A Forever Home for Our Village
Help us renovate our headquarters- The Village Closet Family Support Center- and expand family support services in Western MA.
With joy and gratitude, we announce a transformative milestone in our Village journey – we’ve purchased our historic church building in downtown Huntington! This vibrant hub of family support houses Western Massachusetts’ largest basic needs center, serving over 2,500 families annually.
After years of relocations, our Village has permanent roots. We envision a welcoming, fully accessible center where families can find everything from essential supplies to parenting workshops, workforce training, and compassionate support – all under one roof.
Our renovation plans include:
- Ensuring the building is code compliant and ADA accessible
- Installing a whole basement dehumidifier to protect stored inventory and for the safety of volunteers and staff
- Seal and insulate basement to improve moisture mitigation
- Repair masonry damage
- Replace the outdated boiler and install mini splits for energy efficiency and to make the space useable in the summer
- Repairs to roof and degraded steeple
- Create a contingency and reserve fund so that we thrive in the decades to come
- Creation of deferred maintenance fund for a future elevator replacement
- Install storage fixtures to ensure inventory remains clean and dry
- Expand diaper bank
