Our Programs

We understand the challenges of early parenthood, including feelings of isolation and the need for connection. Our programs are designed to build strong, supportive networks among parents, helping to alleviate loneliness and foster a sense of community.

Protective Factors Framework

Our approach is guided by the Protective Factors Framework, a research-backed model designed to strengthen families and communities by building resilience and reducing risk factors:

  • Parental Resilience: The ability to manage stress and adapt to challenges
  • Social Connections: Building positive, supportive relationships
  • Knowledge of Parenting and Child Development: Promoting child development and effective parenting strategies
  • Concrete Support in Times of Need: Access to basic necessities and services that everyone deserves
  • Social and Emotional Competence of Children: Developing children’s communication, emotional regulation, and relationship skills

We’re committed to helping families build resilience, foster connections, and create a thriving community. Together, we are creating lasting change, one family at a time.

Home Visit Program

All families deserve support after the birth of a baby. We match postpartum families in and around the Western Massachusetts Hilltowns with a Home Visit Volunteer to provide help during the early months of baby's life. Because studies link the lack of social and practical support as top risk factors for postpartum mental health crisis and maternal mortality, this hands-on approach provides a lifeline to families.

Family Basic Needs "Free Store"

Our 6,000-square-foot Village Closet support center tackles food, diaper, and clothing insecurity by providing families with essential supplies at no cost- and delivering them when they have no way to get to us. As Western Massachusetts's largest family basic needs center, we're building a more sustainable, accessible model where every family can access what they need to thrive, without barriers.

Support & Education

Parenting doesn't come with a manual - but it helps to have a community. We bring families together through support groups and educational workshops that tackle real-life challenges in a judgment-free space. Plus, our PreK enrichment classes use music, movement, and play to build school readiness and confidence in young learners. Connection, learning, and support for the whole family. Everyone is welcome.

School-based Programs

We operate discreet "free stores" providing clothing, school supplies, hygiene products, sports gear, and more to students in high need school districts. By combining basic needs with youth-led, service-learning opportunities, we offer a model that reduces stigma and empowers the entire school community.

Workforce Training Partnerships

Skills training for at-risk young people and individuals with learning differences. Our participants gain valuable works skills, build confidence and independence, and enhance pathways to potential employment opportunties.

Online resources and resource kits

Every Home Visit Family receives a Welcome Kit, including our Family Resource Guide. This guide contains crucial information about area resources, including mental health providers, playgroups and lactation support.
