Our Community Cupboard:
Reducing Waste While Nourishing Our Community
It Takes a Village’s Food Rescue program connects families with fresh, nutritious food that would otherwise go to waste. We partner with local farms, grocery stores, and local food recovery organizations across Western Massachusetts to rescue surplus produce, dairy, meat, and pantry staples, then distribute these items directly to families.
Through regular pickups and community distributions, we reduce food waste while ensuring that families and other community members have access to food with dignity.
Our food rescue efforts complement our Village Closet Basic Needs Free Store, providing comprehensive support to families in Hampshire, Franklin, Hampden, and Berkshire Counties.
All are welcome! No income eligibility or documentation is required.
The Community Cupboard is available 5 days per week, even when the Village Closet is closed. If you see us there, just knock! Call (413) 650-3640 for more details and open hours.
“I always find something new that I haven’t tried before, and I find something I need. I really love it.”
