Our Programs

You are not alone! We have been there and know that the early weeks and months (and years!) of parenthood can be hard. We offer the following free services our local families with infants and young children.

Our Programs

Since 2009, It Takes a Village has provided free postpartum and early parenting support to families in Western MA. What began as one mother supporting another has evolved into a unique, comprehensive model unlike anything else in New England. It Takes a Village’s support programs address immediate postpartum challenges, fulfill children’s basic needs, and nurture families’ emotional well-being.

It Takes a Village supports families as they transition from crisis to stability through the following free programs:

  • Weekly postpartum home visits
  • Support groups & parenting workshops
  • Pre-k child enrichment classes
  • School-based free store in a Title 1 school district
  • The Village Closet, the largest basic needs center in Western Massachusetts
mom, baby, grandma

Home Visit Program

All families can use support after the birth of a baby. Families in the Hilltowns- with a baby under the age of 1 year- can be matched with a Home Visit Volunteer.

Parent Groups

It Takes a Village offers continued supports for new and growing families. We strive to create a safe, judgement-free space for all parents and caregivers. Everyone is welcome.

The Village Closet

The Village Closet is a donation and distribution center in Huntington, MA. The center has newborn-adult sized clothing, baby gear, diapers, and more.
