About Us

It Takes a Village (ITAV) is a women-led nonprofit dedicated to being the “village” every family deserves.

What began with one mother supporting her neighbor has grown into a unique, well-regarded model, that is the only one of its kind in New England. Since 2009, ITAV has supported vulnerable families, reduced the risk of postpartum emotional complications, and created economic opportunities to help families transition from crisis to stability.

We currently serve all 4 counties of Western MA, connecting new families with their communities and essential resources, laying a strong foundation for children to thrive.

Over the past decade, ITAV has distributed $2.6 million in essential supplies and delivered critical services to nearly 24,000 people. This impact has been made possible by a small but dedicated staff, 45 volunteers and an operating budget stretched to maximize every dollar.

Our impact extends beyond individual families, driving systemic change that builds resilient communities.
